Zerotron Laser Blaster [2022]

A digital high fidelity model asset developed from a sketch found online, exploring advanced modeling techniques and ideas. My goal for this project was to capture a sleek yet cartoonish aesthetic in the 3D model.

Sketching and Ideation process.

The goal of this project was to practice turning ideas from basic Sketches into a high fidelity 3D asset.

The goal of the project was to find inspiration in a sketch online and build on this with our own ideations. This was then to be turned into a high fidelity 3D model.

Modelling Process

Detail is added in layers, mapping out basic form first followed by iteration and fidelity being added in minute details.

This is about rendering and form, not manufacture. dimensions are only important so far as scale and balance and proportionality

Visual storytelling is added through alien calligraphy and warning decals on the blaster model.

Parametric design

In addition to the free form modeling, I utilized generative design from grasshopper and rhino to add some details to the model.

Grasshopper is very fun to play with and generate unique aesthetics and design features though patterning geometries and sketches.

Design In Situ

My favorite way to capture 3D assets in use is overlaying my renders onto hand sketched 3d models.

I find this showcases the object and demonstrates function and interaction in context with out contrasting too much or detracting attention from the model/

To tie in the commercial aspects of the Blaster, I used the poster aspect of the assignment to showcase my renders.
